| I was assigned to photograph Grace for the fashion section of the LA Times in 1984. I had met Grace briefly a decade or so ago in Paris when she was the first black beauty to 'grace' the cover of a French fashion magazine, and I remembered her having a big laugh and a big heart. It was no surprise to me that she had become such a sensation. I reminded her of our encounter years ago and she treated me like a long lost sister.
