| Michael Jackson posed for this photograph at the premiere of ' The Wiz ', the A list gala a staff writer and i had been assigned to cover for the LA Times' Fashion Section. It was truly a star studded extravaganza; the kind of soiree 'Entertainment Tonight' and the E channel like to share with their viewers. Century City was transformed into Emerald City; the twin towers were bathed in glimmering green lights from top to bottom. Michael was relaxed and friendly, and seemed to be enjoying the festivities and his growing celebrity. I had also attended a record release party thrown for him at Chazen's, where he wowed the press with impromptu song and dance, as our circle of flashing cameras surrounded him. He was most charming, and we were most charmed.
